Ok, I did it! It seems System Mechanic Professional processes were causing Chrome not to start. I’ll wait a few days and then try to reinstall IOLO’s application.

found this post via google (namely, under “sm7 chrome conflict”). sm7 install blocks chrome almost instantly as soon as the former is fully installed. hope there’s some way around it, otherwise one of the two programs has to be discarded
Hi Voblon,
I tried to install the new release of Chrome, but it’s still not working with SM unfortunately. I hope Iolo does something about it otherwise I have to keep installing, running, and uninstalling SM in order to have Chrome working properly:-(
