Being a boy in the 90s, I still remember companies such as LucasArts and Sierra Entertainment creating pure storytelling masterpieces in an era when content mattered much more than looks. I still remember the atmosphere and sheer joy of playing Gabriel Knight 2: The Beast Within, in my opinion one of the best experiments trying to combine an adventure game with actual actors. I was hoping to get the same emotions from Heavy Rain and while I must say I enjoyed playing until the end, I am still wondering how Quantic Dream got away with so many holes in their story. Out of curiosity, I found that there are already many forums on this topic, to avoid spoilers I am not going to list the dozen of plot holes found. Let’s just say that it is very clear to distinguish actual players from Sony/Quantic Dream Public Relations employee masked as players. On one side we have people citing the inconsistencies and, on the other, we have people blaming users they do not have imagination, “that maybe this has happened to the character”, or “the two characters may have met before”, etc. Plot holes are there because the storytelling is poor, not because of lack of imagination. Jane Jensen would kick David Cage’s ass without even trying…

Guys in Europe, like me, who have bought the Special Edition of this game, have had the “nice” surprise of not being able to download the official soundtrack. Furthermore, the Dynamic XMB theme, also downloadable with this copy, was already on sales on the PlayStation Store few weeks before the launch…

If you bought this version and were lazy enough to forget about redeeming the voucher, you should wait the 4th March to be able to download the entire (and expected) package, at least this is what Sony says. On the other hand, if you have already redeemed the code, you should refer to either your shop or local customer service.

I really hope next time, they just give us a CD…
